This Privacy Notice (“Privacy Notice”, “Notice”) outlines Active Homeowner’s (“we”, “our”, or “us”) practices with respect to personal information and other information collected through our website at https://activehomeowner.com/ (“Website”). Your Choices in how we use your information

We provide you with choices regarding the personal information you provide to us.

Opt-out

We may send you e-newsletters or other emails that promote our products and services. If you do not wish to have your email address used by us in this way, email privacy@homegauge.com and let us know. If you have received a promotional email from us, you may also use the opt-out link included in the email or send us a return email asking to be omitted from future email distributions.

Interest-based advertising

We and service providers on our behalf use cookies and similar technologies on our Website to deliver advertisements personalized to your interests on other websites through what is sometimes called “interest-based advertising.” If you would prefer not to receive personalized ads based on your browser or device usage, you have the ability to control certain interest-based advertising practices and opt out of receiving tailored advertisements. We take the security of the data we maintain seriously. We have implemented industry standard practices to secure the personal information we hold from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration and disclosure. We use encryption via HTTPS and SSL on our sites to protect information transferred through our Website and employ industry-standard policies and procedures. However, no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. Our Website is maintained in the United States of America. By using the Website, you authorize the export of personal registration information to the USA and its storage and use as specified in this Privacy Policy. We transfer personal registration information from the EU to the USA and other countries, some of which have not been determined by the European Commission to have an adequate level of data protection. In order to protect the security of your personal information, we will not honor a right to know or deletion request if we cannot verify your identity or authority to make the request and confirm that the personal information relates to you. The method used to verify your identity will depend on the type, sensitivity and value of the information, including the risk of harm to you posed by any unauthorized access or deletion. Generally speaking, verification will be performed by matching the identifying information provided by you to the personal information that we already have.

Our Collection, Disclosure and Sale of Personal Information

Categories of PI we have collected: During the 12 months prior to the effective date of this Notice, we have collected the following categories of personal information: identifiers, commercial information, internet activity, professional information and other information you may have made publicly available online. We also use the personal information we collect to make inferences about individuals.

Categories of PI we have shared for a business purpose: In the 12 months prior to the effective date of this notice, we have shared all the above categories of PI with companies that provide specific services to us (service providers), as described in the section “With whom and for what reasons we share information” above. One example of this sharing is our use of secure, cloud-based storage vendors to hold the consumer PI we collect.

Categories of PI we have sold: We sell PI to our clients to assist them in reaching audiences that are more likely to be interested in their products or services. In the 12 months prior to the effective date of this notice, we have sold the following categories of personal information: identifiers, demographic information(such as gender and age), commercial information, internet activity, audio/visual information, professional information and inferences. We do not knowingly sell the personal information of minors under 16 years old.

Categories of third parties to which we have sold PI: We have sold all of the categories listed in the “Categories of PI we have sold” section to the following categories of third parties: finance, insurance, home goods, manufactures, and other clients who you have opted to receive offers from.

California “Shine the Light”

Under California Civil Code Section 1798.83 (“Shine the Light”), California residents have the right to request in writing from businesses with whom they have an established business relationship, (a) a list of the categories of personal information, as defined under Shine the Light, such as name, email address and mailing address and the type of services provided to the customer that a business has disclosed to third parties (including affiliates that are separate legal entities) during the immediately preceding calendar year for the third parties’ direct marketing purposes and (b) the names and addresses of all such third parties.
